Hahah!! Funny topic! I went to Miami last November with my cousin and I was flicking channels and landed on some kids programme to find Rick Marotta behind a drum kit playing, soloing and chatting to two little girls! The funny thing was that it wasn't a 'learn to play the drums' prog for kids, but he was part of the storyline - NICE!!!

I remember years ago on "Sanford & Son", Lamont (Demond Wilson) actually played drums on an episode (and did some tap dancing!). Which reminds me...I never realized until recently that Steve Gadd can tap dance. He's no Gregory Hines but very good. I also remember an episode of "The Cosby Show" which featured the great Max Roach playing. Wish I had some clips to share.

Dazzler do you remembver the Song & Visions concert on the BBC a few years back? It was various stars (Chaka Kahn, Mary J. Blige, Seal (!) Rod Steward etc) playing a hit from each year since about 1955. My best mate rang up and just kept saying "VINNIE! VINNIE! VINNE ON TV RIGHT NOW PLAYING A REALLY BAD SONG! VINNIE!" until I got some sense out of him and turned on BBC1 and sure enough there he was (along with Mike Landau and I think maybe Luis Conte as well) rocking away, reading the whole thing, his Gretsch sounding mint in Wembley stadium as was.

He particularly rocked the Bon Jovi covers, and Jon Bon Jovi really seemed to appreciate him. I felt a little sorry for Tico Torres...

Well, let's see....Dharma put together a band and jammed with Bob Dylan on Dharma & Greg. [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img] I remember all the Buddy stuff, including the guest appearance with Desi Jr. on The Lucy Show. Speaking of Lucy, remember that little kid who played (very well!) drums as little Ricky? I saw Stamos sitting in with The Posse on Arsenio Hall once. I went to a club in L.A. one time to catch Radar play with his band. He did a good job (IMO) considering that bum left hand.

That kid who was little Ricky was amazing.. I saw that few weeks ago. WOW!! He was all dancin around and stuff..

I remember some commercial in the 80's where it starts with Larry Mullen Jr. playing a double bass kit I think [img]eek.gif[/img] . I have no recollection about the rest of the commercial except it ends with him whacking a light bulb with his drumstick? Anyone remember what this commercial was about?

Little Ricky (there was actually three of them, but Keith Thibodeaux is who we all think of. He says, "I did not come from a musical family, my earliest memories are of listening to music and keeping time by beating on pots and pans with sticks, knives, and forks. Afterwards, I graduated to banging on metal trash cans in the family's back yard. By age three, I was playing drums professionally."

He played Johnny Paul on The Andy Griffith Show as well


and played drums for the band, David & the Giants. He became a Christian and so did the band.

Didn't Tony Verderosa do a recent Twix commercial on an electric kit?

I once auditioned for a TV commercial that had to do with this toy that would record and repeat sounds and rythms. The idea was for a drum battle between a real drummer and this machine/toy thing. Pretty weird, I didn't get the gig and never saw the product or commercial either! lol
